Connecting DIHs in Europe and Africa
DIGILOGIC
The EU research project DIGILOGIC started in January 2021 with a duration of three years and was funded with 1.9 million euros from the Horizon 2020 research framework program. As a “network of networks”, DIGILOGIC paved the way for start-ups, SMEs and innovators from both continents to work closely with industry and investors to jointly develop intelligent logistics solutions and thus contribute to the development of a sustainable and successful economy.
An essential part of the vision was to foster collaboration and strategic partnership between European and African Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs). Through a dynamic knowledge transfer and implementation program, DIGILOGIC promoted the development and deployment of emerging technologies (such as cloud computing, big data, AR/VR, machine learning, blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), smart devices, IoT and ITS) for smart logistics solutions in Africa.
The project was a collaboration between three European Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) – DHM as the representative of the Digital Hub Logistics, which coordinated the project, VTT (Finland) and Friuli Innovazione (Italy) – as well as the African tech hubs MEST (Ghana) and BongoHive (Zambia). The social consulting company Endeva (Germany) and the SME APODISSI (Nigeria) were also involved.
